Heart For Sale

Put your heart up for sale to the only buyer on the market who can fully restore and renovate it from the inside out.

The difference about this “For Sale” sign than from all the others we see on the side of the road, is that this one doesn’t just go up every few years, it goes up EVERY DAY!

1 Corinthians 6:19 says Do you know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.” Our bodies are houses where the Spirit of God dwells in our heart, and He knows every single wall we have put up in our heart. He knows every single door we have closed in our heart. He knows about every single silent sound of laughter and mourning we have made in our heart, and He knows every dark hallway we have navigated alone in our hearts.

God is the General Contractor of our hearts. He built it and knows everything about it-how it works and how it feels. And like a house, our hearts need constant upkeep and cleaning. It’s not something you build and leave to fall apart or fend for itself, it needs constant contact with its Creator.

When your house has problems, you may try to fix it on your own because you consider yourself to be a handy person, but no one can fix it as well as the original builder. Your fix is only temporary until it breaks again. So instead of waiting for things to fall apart why don’t we go to the contractor of our heart every day!

Every day there is a new replacement, restoration, renovation or upgrade that needs to take place inside our heart, and oftentimes we don’t even know about them. Are we going to God each day asking him to rebuild and renew our temples our home, our heart from the inside out? Only God can restore and renovate and put back together the pieces that need work.

Putting up that “For Sale” sign every day to God isn’t saying “God how much am I worth? How much do I need to do so that you will want to buy me?” No, your heart is already purchased! You are already His!

See, the ending to verse 19 says you are not your own.” You do not belong to yourself. You didn’t build your heart and therefore you can’t fix it!

You can only make yourself available and on the market for One person to come inside, clear out the old and bring in the new. That One person, that One buyer is the One you already belong to.

Beautifully expressed in a unique way. I will take a look at my heart from your perspective. We all need restoration and renovation but we don’t always look at it that way. We think that we are on the right track and we sometimes get caught in a rut. Thanks for this insight. Looking forward to your next Bible study.
